Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs) are highly trained, advanced practice anesthesia providers who work exclusively under the direction of physician anesthesiologists as part of the anesthesia care team model. CAAs hold a master’s degree in anesthesia from an accredited program and are certified by the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA). They complete rigorous didactic and clinical training in all aspects of anesthesia care, including preoperative evaluation, intraoperative management, and postoperative pain control.
Working in collaboration with anesthesiologists, CAAs ensure safe, high-quality anesthesia care in a variety of settings —hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, and specialty clinics.
